Jose Dizon, P.E.

founder & ceo

Jose is a licensed professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, bringing a wealth of knowledge across utility planning, operations, corporate communications, and the management of energy and wastewater companies.

A retired United States Navy nuclear submarine officer, he also has a strong background in nuclear quality assurance and regulatory affairs. Jose is a recognized leader in Hawaii’s energy industry, known for his deep understanding of both utility and non-utility sectors.

He has served on the boards of several community organizations, including The Hawaii Island United Way, Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, and as President and CEO of the Waikiki Ranch Board of Directors. Currently, he serves on the board of the Hawaii Clean Power Alliance, advocating for renewable energy policy and regulatory support. Jose holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley College of Engineering.

Senior Vice president

Ed Low serves as the Senior Executive Vice President at Ulu Niu Energy and Construction, where he provides strategic leadership and oversees operations across the company’s energy and construction divisions.

With decades of experience in large-scale project management, infrastructure development, and organizational leadership, Ed plays a key role in driving Ulu Niu’s mission to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that strengthen communities and support a cleaner energy future.

Throughout his career, Ed has been recognized for his results-driven approach, commitment to excellence, and ability to build high-performing teams. At Ulu Niu, he focuses on aligning operational efficiency with long-term growth, ensuring that every project reflects the company’s core values: Aloha, Mālama, Kuleana, Pono, Lōkahi, ‘Ohana & Ho’okipa.

Shirley is of Native Hawaiian descent and is Chairman of the Ulu Niu Foundation, a Native Hawaiian Organization that  holds the controlling interest in Ulu Niu Energy. 

Shirley and her board have a passion for giving back and serving the Native Hawaiian community.

Jesselyn Dizon

Vice president, Finance

She is an experienced project manager and business finance professional.

She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Science from Trinity University in San Antonio and is a proud Native Hawaiian.

Jesselyn is a Director of the Ulu Niu Foundation and volunteers her time helping with native Hawaiian causes.

Dr. Taylor Kelly, PhD.

Vice president, Technology

Taylor has over 10 years of experience in energy storage. She specializes in energy storage technology evaluation, safety, performance, and reliability, and end-of-life management.

She received her B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Houston, where she developed stretchable, solid-state lithium-ion batteries.

Currently, she is a member of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Tiger Team for the Long Duration Energy Storage National Consortium.

Her current Federal work relates to energy storage end-of-life management, lithium-ion battery safety and explosion hazards, and long-duration energy storage technology demonstration. She is also a Director of the Ulu Niu Foundation, a Hawaii non-profit organization.

Vice president, CONSTRUCTION

Bill is our construction partner and has over 30 years of experience working with the United States federal government.

Bill has performed more than $100 million in construction, renovation, retrofit, demolition, maintenance, and remediation services contracts.

He has built a reputation for quality, integrity, and demonstrated performance.

Autumn Flory

Vice President, STRATEGY

As the Vice President of Strategy, Autumn is responsible for transitioning the company’s business to a digital platform services model that will be used to serve our customers more effectively and efficiently. She is also the lead for M&A opportunities.

Autumn has over 12 years of finance, consulting and energy management experience. Her experience includes freelance energy consulting—supporting software selection and implementation, strategic planning, and project management—as well as serving as Energy Manager at Parker Ranch, where she managed energy, water, and wastewater systems.

She has also supported conservation efforts with the National Park Service.  Autumn is passionate about finding inspired solutions to fundamental needs, regenerative living, and building resilient communities.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Hawaii and a Masters in Energy Management from Dartmouth College.

Donna Hydrick

Director, Business Development

Donna has more than 30 years in various industries directly related to the commercial cycle and customer management process.

In the recent years, she has been related to power generation and energy management projects, leading the revenue cycle, from communications and marketing to the entire customer relationship cycle.

She is an expert in developing international partnerships with multiple manufacturers, installers, resource management relationships, high-quality materials, and construction teams.

She has played a primary role in developing over 65 microgrids and utility-scale projects in the western United States, Australia, Puerto Rico, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Iraq.

She holds a BASc in Psychology from Brigham Young University.
